Antibody conjugates are essential reagents in various immunoassays, including ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. However, most antibody conjugates are temperature-sensitive and require ultra-cold storage to maintain their stability. In this study, we demonstrate the use of a novel stabilization technique, Capillary-Mediated Vitrification (CMV), to improve the stability of antibody conjugates. We applied the CMV technology to stabilize alkaline phosphatase, allophycocyanin, and HRP conjugates, using these reagents as model systems, and subjected them to extreme temperature excursions, including exposure to temperatures up to 65 C for periods of 7 days or more. The stabilized conjugates retained their functionality and performed comparably to material stored frozen in a representative ELISA assay. Our data suggest that CMV offers a promising alternative to traditional cold storage, enabling more flexible and cost-effective logistics for antibody-based analytical reagents.
