In survey of ethnomedicinal plants, Ocimum gratissimum appears as one with great therapeutic benefits and high accessibility to communities. The aqueous extract from Ocimum gratissimum contains saponins, terpenoids, glycosides, and alkaloids, which qualifies it as an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative agent.
