    In the concurrent world, the natural fibre reinforced polymer composite materials are fast developing for the futuristic technical applications due to their renewability and cost-effectiveness. Biodegradable composite materials enhance sustainability and provide mechanical properties for diverse applications by combining the matrix and reinforcing materials. The study aims to enhance the fibre roughness of Ceiba pentandra composite properties through various treatments, enhancing interfacial adhesion between the fibre and matrix. The alkali treatment was used in composite manufacturing, resulting in a roughness of 466.12 μm, with the use of uni-directional and bi-directional fibre lay methods for reinforcement. The tensile strength, elongation and impact resistance of the prepared bi- directional laid composite material showed better results with 3.267 N/mm², 1.593 percent and 0.25 Joules respectively than uni-directional laid sample. As for the hardness, flexural strength and modulus the uni-directional laid sample showed better results with 76.6 Shore-D, 21.362 Mpa, and 2623.9 Gpa respectively than bi-directiobnal laid composites. The alkali treatment could be utilized for surface modification of Ceiba pentandra fibre for better results in impact resistance with bidirectional laying reinforcement with Poly lactic acid matrix in composite manufacturing. Hence this could find its utilization to manufacture materials for withstanding shock and stress.
