This study aims to examine local residents’ perception on the benefit and cost of hosting a convention and also correlation between community attachment, community consciousness, and attitudes and behavioral intention.

To attain the goal, total 450 questionnaire sheets were distributed to and collected from adult males and females older than 19 in Daegu from April 15th till 30th, 2013. And before the analysis, the researcher excluded 32 that seemed to be problematic and used total 418 sheets for its positive analysis.
The researcher utilized SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 to verify the collected data to see if structural correlation among variables was valid and also designed the structural equation model and verified the model’s goodness of fit and the effects of the path-coefficient. Along with this, difference between the groups, the young and the middle-aged was intended to be examined.

The findings of this paper can be summed up as below: First, the benefit factor of hosting a convention showed great positive effects on attachment and community consciousness. On the other hand, the cost factor did not exert statistically significant effects on attachment and community consciousness, and there was no significant difference between the groups.

Second, the benefit factor of hosting a convention showed great positive effects on attitudes in both groups. But the path of the hypothesis that the cost factor influenced their attitudes to hosting a convention indicated subtle negative effects only in the middle-aged group.

Third, community attachment showed great positive effects on community consciousness, but there was no significant difference between the groups.

Fourth, according to the result of verifying the hypothesis about whether community attachment and community consciousness would affect their attitudes, attachment did not exert statistically significant effects on their attitudes. However, according to the result of verifying the path of the hypothesis by groups, in the middle-aged group, attachment showed subtle positive effects on their attitudes. Also, about the effects of community consciousness on their attitudes, subtle positive effects were observed in both groups.

Fifth, their attitudes to hosting a convention showed great positive effects on their behavioral intention, but there was no significant difference between the groups.

Lastly, there was significant correlation among the benefit factor of hosting a convention and community consciousness and attitudes, so the study has verified the effects on those variables. According to the result of the verification, the benefit factor of hosting a convention not only showed direct effects on attitudes but was indirectly influenced with the mediation of community consciousness as well.
