The objective of this paper is to estimate the economic effects of semiconductor industry between two countries, Korea and Taiwan. This industry has been recognized as one of a leader factor for the economic growth in both countries. Furthermore the exports of relating products in both countries has reached high ranks in total merchandise exports. In Taiwan, the industrial structure has been developed most in small and medium-sized enterprises whereas in Korea the industrial structure has pointed out the large enterprises. Using the industrial input-output tables of two countries, the analysis was made for measuring the economic effects of semiconductor industry. From the analysis first we can find that the position of the semiconductor industry is very high in two countries. The production inducement effect, value-added inducement effect and import inducement effect of the semiconductor industry in Korea is higher than in Taiwan. Second, the price ripple effect in Korea is lower than in Taiwan. Third, The front-and-back effect of semiconductor industry in both countries was shown to be lower than 1. Because of that the industry is confirmed to be an final demand and primitive industry type.
