The purpose of this research is to examine mediating effects of problem solving ability in relation between parental psychological control and college’s procrastination. Psychological Control Scale-Youth Self Report(PCS-YSR), Problem Solving Inventory(PSI), General Procrastination(GP) Scale were implemented. A total of 299 people’s Data were analyzed. The structure equation model analysis with AMOS was performed in order to verify of mediating effect.
The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows.
First, Parental psychological control was negatively correlated with problem solving ability, positively correlated with procrastination. problem solving ability was negatively correlated with procrastination. Second, problem solving ability in the relationship between paternal psychological control and procrastination was indicated complete mediating effect. Third, problem solving ability in the relationship between maternal psychological control and procrastination was indicated partially mediating effect. Fourth, problem-solving confidence(PSC) and personal control(PC) significantly mediated some of the link between parental psychological control and procrastination, but no mediation effect was found for approach-avoidance style(AAS).
