20세기 근대 산업의 발달로 삶의 질이 높아지면서 여가활동 및 자기개발을 즐기는 현대인들이 점차 늘어나게 되었다. 특히 외모에 대한 관심의 증가는 미용 산업의 발전에 영향을 미쳤고 그 중에서도 네일 미용의 발전은 여성들의 필수 관리 항목으로 자리 잡게 되었다. 네일 미용의 디자인은 색채 중심에서 다양한 장식적인 기법과 도구들의 표현들로 넓혀 가고 있으며 네일 아트를 표현하는 재료와 기법은 매우 다양해지고 있다. 이러한 재료의 발전은 손톱이라는 작은 공간 안에만 한정지어 사용하기에는 아쉬움이 있어 네일 소재를 활용한 예술적 공간 창출에 연구를 하고자 하였다.
특히 현대인들은 각자의 개인공간을 자신만의 개성이 담긴 독특한 공간으로 꾸미고자 하는 데에 많은 관심을 가지게 되었고, 이러한 관심은 자연스럽게 ‘인테리어 디자인’, ‘인테리어 소품’에 대한 관심도 증가되었다. 또한 현대인들은 수직이 주는 미적인 아름다움에 대한 관심을 표명하게 되었다. 네오고딕 양식이 갖는 수직적인 미와 간결함, 단순함은 현대사회의 특성 및 현대인의 생활 패턴과 잘 맞아 떨어진다. 네오고딕이 주는 미적인 아름다움을 표현할 수 있는 인테리어를 위한 공간 중 네일살롱의 인테리어 공간은 네일 아트 산업에 빠른 성장과 함께 다른 네일살롱과는 차별화된 네일살롱 마케팅으로 활용하여 뷰티 산업의 고급화를 만들 수 있을 것이다. 특히 네일살롱의 양적 팽창과 더불어 네일 미용 분야에서 차별화된 네일살롱의 공간, 각자의 개성이 필요한 오늘날의 현대사회에서는 고객들이 수준에 맞추기 위한 공간 디자인이 절실하게 필요하다고 판단되었다.
따라서, 네오고딕 양식의 수직적인 미와 간결하고 단순한 형태를 응용하여, 네일살롱 공간에 장식적이면서 실용성을 겸비한 네일 소재 인테리어 소품을 제작, 다양한 네일 소재를 활용한 간결하고 모던한 디자인을 통해 기능성을 부여하고, 여러 가지 컬러를 입혀 시각적인 즐거움과 장식성을 높이고자 다음과 같은 작품을 제작하였다.
작품 Ⅰ ‘Nova’는 사그리다 파밀리아 대성당의 뾰족한 수직적 구조를 롱 팁에 젤컬러링 기법을 이용하여 사다리 선반을 제작하였고, 작품 Ⅱ ‘Holy’는 렐루 서점의 계단 형태와 서점의 컬러를 워터데칼로 아트팁을 제작하여 스탠드를 제작하였고, 작품 Ⅲ ‘Mystic’은 노트르담 대성당의 사람들의 감성을 자극하는 푸른컬러와 스테인드글라스와 젤파츠를 이용하여 의자를 제작하였다. 작품 Ⅳ ‘Riven’은 선과 면을 강조하여 여러 가지 다양한 네일 소재를 이용하여 캔버스 액자를 제작하였고, 작품 Ⅴ ‘Elegant’는 신비롭고 오묘한 대리석의 표현을 젤마블 기법을 이용하여 대리석 테이블을 제작하였고, 작품 Ⅵ ‘Noble’은 아크릴을 이용하여 신시청사의 천장의 심미성의 특성을 아크릴 마블 기법을 이용하여 벽장식을 제작하였다.
본 연구에서는 네일살롱 공간에 맞는 문화 장식소품을 연출하고자 네일아트의 기법을 연구하고, 네오고딕 건축의 양식을 활용하여 작품을 제작, 네일살롱 인테리어를 중심으로 한 장식소품을 연구하였다. 그 결과 작품제작을 통하여 네일살롱을 방문하는 고객들로 하여금 미적 감각을 높이고, 독창적인 문화성을 발휘하며, 생활의 심리적 안정성과 심미적 가치를 높일 수 있었다. 즉, 네일아트 기법을 활용하여 네일 디자인뿐만 아니라 다양한 분야에서 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 살펴 볼 수 있었다. 네일아트 기법을 활용한 다양한 네일 소재의 연구는 계속되어야 하고 새로운 기법의 개발과 체계화된 교육의 필요성 또한 되어야 할 필요성이 있다.

With the growth and development of modern industry in the 20th century, the quality of life has improved. At the same time, the number of people enjoying leisure activities and engaging in self-development has gradually increased. In particular, increase in people’s interest in their look has an influence on the growth of cosmetology industry. In particular, nail care has settled as an essential beauty sector for women. The scope of nail design has broadened from color-centric styles to the design using diverse ornamental techniques and tools. At the same time, nail art materials and techniques have been very diverse. The development of these materials would be more than just being used in a little space ‘nail’. Therefore, this study attempted to examine the creation of artistic space, using nail art materials.
In the modern times, especially, people have become more interested in creating their own space, which has in turn increased their interest in ‘interior design’ and ‘interior accessories’. Furthermore, modern people have shown interest in the beauty created by verticality. The vertical beauty and simplicity of neo-gothic styles are well matched with the characteristics of a modern society and modern people’s living patterns. Among the spaces for interior design which can express the aesthetics of the neo-gothic style, a nail salon could bring the era of luxurious and premium beauty through differentiated nail salon marketing under the rapid growth of nail art industry. In today’s modern society where a differentiated nail salon and each person’s personality as well as the qualitative expansion of nail salons are important in nail art, in particular, spatial design which meets customers’ diverse needs and demand is essential.
Hence, using the vertical beauty and simplicity of the neo-gothic style, decorative and practical nail salon interior products were produced. The simple and modern design created with diverse nail materials made them more functional. Then, the following works were created to enhance visual satisfaction and ornamentality by applying diverse colors.
In the work I ‘Nova’, a ladder shelf was created by applying the vertical structure of the Sagrada Familia to the long tips, using the gel-coloring technique. In the work II ‘Holy’, a stand was created after creating water decal art tips with the shapes of the stairs and colors of Livraria Lello. In the work III ‘Mystic’, a chair was created, using stained glass and gel parts and blue color which stimulates people’s emotions in Notre-Dame Cathedral. In the work IV ‘Riven’, a canvas frame was created, using diverse nail art materials with emphasis on the line and plane. In the work V ‘Elegant’, a mysterious marble table was created, using a gel marble technique. In the work VI ‘Noble’, wall decorations were created based on the aesthetic characteristics of the ceiling of New Town Hall, using an acrylic marble technique. This study examined nail art techniques to create ornamental accessories for a nail salon. It also produced works using the neo-gothic styles and analyzed ornamental accessories, focusing on the nail salon interior.
As a result, it has produced such works and made nail salon customers enhance their esthetic senses, display unique culturality and improve mental stability and esthetic values. In other words, it has examined the possibility of nail art in diverse fields, using nail art techniques. There should be continued studies on diverse nail art materials, and it is necessary to develop new technologies and provide systematic education as well.
