This study examined the joint associations of abdominal fat distribution and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) with fasting glucose and serum uric acid in adult women. Methods: A total of 70 women aged 20 to 65 years with complete data on core variables participated in computed tomography imaging to assess visceral fat area (VFA) and subcutaneous fat area (SFA), as well as a maximal cycle-ergometer exercise test to determine maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max). VFA/SFA ratio was calculated. Associations among variables were examined using Pearson correlation analysis, 2×2 median-split analyses stratified by VFA and VO2max categories, two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and multiple linear regression models adjusted for age and BMI that included a VFA×VO2max interaction term. Results: VFA and VFA/SFA were positively correlated with fasting glucose (r=0.417 and 0.436; p<.001) and uric acid (r=0.423, p<.001; r=0.352, p<.01). VO2max was inversely correlated with fasting glucose (r=-0.279, p<.05) but not with uric acid. Two-way ANOVA showed significant main effects of VFA and CRF on fasting glucose (p<.001 and p<.05, respectively), while only VFA was significant for uric acid (p<.001). In regression, VFA and VFA×VO2max predicted fasting glucose (R²=0.352), whereas only VFA predicted uric acid (R²= 0.240). Conclusion: Visceral adiposity is a key correlate of fasting glucose and uric acid, and CRF provides additional stratification for fasting glucose.
