    This retrospective observational study examined associations of exercise frequency with skeletal maturation, growth, and body composition. Methods: Sixty-nine children in a 12-month program were grouped by sex and frequency (boys: A once/week, n=14; B ≥twice/week, n=19; girls: C once/week, n=14; D ≥twice/week, n=22). Anthropometry, body composition, and bone age (BA) were measured at 0, 6, and 12 months. BA minus chronological age (BA−CA) and growth variables were analyzed by sex via two-way mixed ANOVA (frequency × time) with Greenhouse-Geisser and Bonferroni corrections, plus ANCOVA (covariates: baseline BA−CA, genetic target height) and correlations. Results: BA−CA showed significant frequency × time interactions (boys: F(1.44, 44.49) = 16.19, p < .001, ηp² = .343; girls: F(1.83, 62.26) = 4.65, p = .015, ηp² = .120), decreasing only with high frequency (B: 1.48 to 0.72 yr; D: 1.57 to 1.07 yr; both p < .001). Twelve-month reductions were greater (boys: −0.76 vs. −0.14 yr, p = .001, d = 1.59; girls: −0.50 vs. −0.14 yr, p = .016, d = 0.98). Adjusted differences persisted in boys (F(1, 29) = 21.37, p < .001, ηp² = .424) but not girls (p = .078). Boys showed height, BMI, and body-fat interactions (p = .015–.030); muscle mass increased in all groups. Attendance inversely correlated with ΔBA−CA (r = −0.507, p < .001). Conclusion: Exercise ≥twice weekly was associated with a narrower BA−CA gap in boys; findings in girls were inconclusive.
