초록·키워드
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of wearable EMS step exercise on knee joint mobility and isokinetic muscle function and gait parameters in obese middle aged women, and to evaluate its potential as an effective intervention strategy for improving gait function. Participants were step group (ESG) that performed a wearable EMS suit exercise program and a step group (SEG) that performed a conventional gait exercise program and a control group (EG). First, knee joint mobility, significant effects of time, group, and time × group interaction were observed for both knee flexion and extension angles. Post hoc analyses revealed that the EEG showed a significantly greater increase in knee flexion angle and a significant decrease in knee extension angle compared with the SEG and EG. Second, Regarding isokinetic muscle function, significant effects of time, group, and time × group interaction were observed for both 60°/sec and 180°/sec and 240°/sec. Post hoc analyses revealed that the EEG showed a significantly greater increase in peak torque with the SEG and EG. Third, gait parameters, gait speed demonstrated significant effects of time and time × group interaction; however, no significant between-group differences were identified in post hoc analyses. In contrast, cadence and step length showed significant effects of time, group, and time × group interaction. Post hoc analyses indicated that cadence significantly decreased and step length significantly increased in the ESG compared with the SEG and EG.
The wearable EMS suit step exercise program appears to be an effective intervention for modulating knee joint mobility and isokinetic muscle function and improving qualitative aspects of gait patterns in obese middle aged women.
