    Regulation of cell growth is very important for cellular regeneration and healing process. Many recent studies have focused on discovering the natural or synthetic substances that have the ability to modulate cellular regeneration and growth. The compounds may be useful for developing the strategies to delay cellular senescence or to promote cellular rejuvenation processes. In this study, KSY-PH1, an active compound found in walnuts, was tested for its role as cellular rejuvenating and wound healing agent. We used skin NHDF cells and mouse model to observe their response to deleterious environmental factors such as UVB irradiation and mechanical injury. Specifically, we observed the expressional changes of longevity-related-protein Sirt1 and cell-cycle-related-protein Pin1. It was found that KSY-PH1 positively influence processes like quenching of reactive oxygen species (ROS), cellular growth, wound healing, and cellular apoptosis at least in skin cells because of its unique mechanism of co-regulating Pin1 and Sirt1.
