This study was conducted to analyze titles, specific localities, landscape elements, viewing points, and viewing characteristics among all landscape characteristics shown on paintings of scenic places displayed at the Exhibition of Landscape Paintings of Daegu's Scenic Places. The landscape meanings of these scenic places depicted on the landscape paintings were investigated, focusing on identifying characteristics of landscape resources and viewing characteristics of a specific city. There is a high possibility that the scene of a scenic place a specific city has may not only be a good landscape element that will increase the charm of the city but also be used as a good landscape resource in beautifying the city in the future. The results of the study are summarized as follows.
1) Landscape resources depicted in the scenic places could be clarified by analyzing landscape elements. Trees and rivers were depicted much in near and middle-range view whereas mountains were depicted much in a far view. It could be known that Geumho River and Mt. Palgongsan were Daegu's typical landscape elements as river and mountain, respectively.
2) Landmarks or large structures of the city were depicted restrictively. These structures were also depicted with natural objects. This fact suggested that the urban elements a modern city has built are excluded from scenic places.
3) The viewing possibility was high because the titles included the contents suggesting the viewing points but actually there were few scenic places from which such viewing points could be drawn. Places with no specific localities were depicted much as a scenic place.
