This article analyses discourses on lesbians formed in our society in various ways. First of all, the general view of our society on lesbians is founded upon heterosexism and father-centered ideology. This is divided into two viewpoints. One takes the extreme conception in which homosexuality is linked to perversion or anomaly or is identified with crimes bringing about family destruction. The other respects lesbian rights by allowing sexual variety. The latter involves a liberalist conception to some degree, but it discusses variety too loosely and is still subject to heterosexism. The discourse of lesbians formed in the second community can be explained in seperatism. The discourses of lesbians in Korea, is largely divided into the Queer and socialist solidarities. The Queer solidarity deals with the matter of lesbians within the broader matters of sexual minorities, while the socialist solidarity connects the matter of lesbians to that of the whole class of laborers Lesbians' mid-l990 recognition of mutilayered contradictions unique to themselves in Korea gives rise to their independent movement. However, the two solidarities find fault with it In the very time that needs much stronger solidarity, their independent movement results in weakening the solidarity. The third discourse is being formed around the criticism of heterosexim, the solidarity with feminist movement groups, and lesbians' identity as sexual minorities and females in their community. The formations of these discourses is significant in that our society is incited to put a question to the universality and absoluteness of heterosexism. Lesbians' rights movement still sticks to the level of rights protection movement. However, if homosexualists' and lesbians' troubles is to be fundamentally derived from heterosexism, it is urgently required that the manner of serious movement should be searched around the discussion of modem sexual discourses.
