The globalization of competition, changing customer requirements and new strategies or organizational structures, has resulted in a high level of complexity and dynamism in the environment of manufacturing companies. This growing significance is forcing companies to consider the rationalization of production activities.
Product development is one of the most critical areas in industry. All measures aimed at increasing productivity of it are effective only if their essential target is acceleration in the development process. All companies, specially automobile companies, try to shorten product development times by speeding up individual processes and optimizing the entire process chain. In this paper are introduced first the present state and current observable trends of product development in automobile industry of domestic and advanced countries, which are trying to reach the reduction of development time. The gap between the inland and advanced country of state of art technology is grasped on this basis. In order to compensate it, the orientation pursued is suggested in view of optimizing the process and the organizational structures.
