The economic difficulties caused the accelerated changes in the various fields of the North Korea society. In this circumstance, particularly, the North Korea women have been enforced to be responsible for supporting their family's livelihood. This role of the North Korea women made them to experience important changes in their family life and social life, and their consciousness. The North Korea women are considering their changed circumstance in a new perspective different from the old one that they should serve their husband obediently without any reservation and keep their household and nursing their child. However, this change can be applied to only the middle and low class who went through many changes in their life mostly caused by the deteriorated economic conditions. And most North Korea women's life is swayed by their husbands' social positions and job security in the economic difficulties.
In this view, we can say that after the economic crisis in the North Korea system the change in the North Korea women's life and consciousness shows a very limited scope of change. The change of the North Korea women's life and consciousness resulted in the collapse of patriarchy that has kept the structure of division of labour by sex. But this change does not completely reform the old patriarchal structure. This limitation of change in the North Korea women's life & consciousness can be explained by the very fact that the social and economic activity of the North Korea women is not for their self-realization but for maintaining their livelihood. More importantly, this is derived from their passive life and the paralysis of their consciousness tamed by the patriarchal authoritarian state for a long time.
