In Christian universities and colleges, evangelism of gospel is the most important mission. There are diverse approaches to this task. The concern for bio-ehical problems seems to be a very effective way for campus mission and Christian education. Especially, we live in technological age. So, we need to study on the relationship between bio-ethical issues in technological age and spiritual concern of life.
In this paper, the author insists that we must take interest in dignity and sanctity of life in technological age. Topics which we
concern in this perspective are (1)medical problems, (2)eugenics, cloning, and Human Genom Project, (3)ecological awareness for life and environment, (4)cyber-ethical topics. Of course, there are particular theories and terms in each topics, but all of these topics have common origin, that is, technology. Now, human beings have power of health-control and life-prolong. But we must examine the possibility of technology and its dangerous aspects. In short, we worry about demeaning value and dignity of life in technological age.
In this context, Christian education have to teach (1)responsible
attitude to technology, ethical responsibility, (2)spiritual dimension of life, eternal life. The meaning of ethical responsibility is enhancement of dignity of life in using the power of technology. Moreover, our most important concern about bio-ethics must to be led to the ultimate concern for spiritual life. The spiritual dirrension of life means the concern about salvation and gospel. It is the core of campus mission, and we must teach and preach the value and
sanctity of life before God(coram Deo).
Now, in oder to achieve this educational purpose, we can prepare diverse programs for life-movement in campus mission. For example, chapel of life-feast, lecture of bio-ethics, and campaign for blood donation. And we must remember that the dignity and value of life is connected to eternal life which is written in gospel.
Therefore, this paper emphasis that our final target to teach bio-ethics is evangelism for human being who lives in post-modem and technological age.
