'The Fantastic' has been criticized for its absurdity and escapism compared to mimesis. Even in the modern Korean literature where the color of realism stands out, the fantastic has been regarded as a low-class literature. Under the severe political oppression, the interest in 'the fantastic' was a bourgeois and anti-socialist movement at that time. However, with the advent of postmodernism, conceptions on mimesis became skeptical. As a result, the problematic facet of "alternative reality" in 'the fantastic' has reinstated its status in literature. Along with this reinstatement of 'the fantastic', feminist literature has used 'the fantastic' to reveal the reality of women. O Jung-Hee, Kim Chae-Won and Yang Gwi-Ja are the three main feminist authors who have combined 'the fantastic' with the feminity in order to depict the reality in which the women live in. In O Jung-Hee's novel "The Scorpion", she brings out the topic on abnormal reality that obstructs the women's desire for self-realization. Thus, she draws the horrific feminity, which is related to the uncanny, in a fantastic way. Likewise, in Kim Chae-won's novel, "Winter Fantasty", the woman's love story is fantastically depicted by using daydream as a subject matter of transcending the reality. At this point in the story, the fantastic is sublimated by the feminity. Moreover, Yang Gwi-Ja portrays woman utopia through a romantic love that arouses popular sublime, in her novel, "Eternal Love". Consequently, the woman escapes from the reality where love is forbidden in this novel. In these feminist novels, the feminist authors appropriate the man's fantasy and discuss about the women's deficiency and desire in order to overthrow the reality.
