The remainders of hit-and-run vehicle usually remains in vehicle-ta-vehicle or vehicle-ta-pedestrian traffic accident. They are classified into 5 types of groups: illuminating system, reflex reflector, rearview(outside} mirror called backmirror in korean, window glass and parts assembled with vehicle externally. Also they generally have unique code and design. Through identification of unique code and design, we can recognize detailed information and data concerning hit-and-run vehicle. In this paper we introduce computer program developed to aid vehicle part code identification. This program is named as NISI-HIP-VPCSP(NISI: National Institute of Scientific Investigation, HIP: Hit-and-run vehicle Identification Program, VPCSP: Vehicle Part Code Identification Search Program). We called NISI-HIP as an abbreviated designation. It have 4 main functions: vehicle part code search, vehicle part name search, vehicle model name search and addition update of new vehicle part code and name. The Visual-C++ and MS-Access database program was used to develop NISI-HIP. The database built in NISI-HIP have about 148,985 information and data related to vehicle part code and name. It is expected to be helpful to the rapid vehicle part code search and identification from hit-and-run vehicle remainders. It can be installed on IBM compatible PC using MS-Window 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP operating system.
