The Chosun Dynasty held up Confucianism ideas and instructed by doing it, so the dynasty dealt well with 'Sa'(a Korean classical scholar) as national vitality. When the social position system was dismantled in the late of Chosun dynasty period, People wanted to get educated more and more. Then, promoting great morale and empowering the spirit became the common sense of Chosun society.
According to these realities, the confucian scholars in the middle of the 19th century recognized the a primary education to be completed to the people not only as the low level of higher education but also as common education. They raise the Idea of Common education to practice 'Sa's quality as common education in the level of primary education.
The confucian scholars especially had published the beginner's text book to adjust to social changes according to the their ethnic ethics against national crisis since they faced the eastward advance of western. These text books show two kinds of trends.
First, they tried to get an appreciative eye to recognize the world synthetically not only by the ethics. For this reason, they published 'Chohakmoon' and 'Jeongmonglyueo'. Also, they published 'Mongeolyuhoon' for literature education to understand the world centering around Chosun.
Second, they published 'Haedongsoksohak', another 'begginner's textbooks' to make new ethics to adjust against social exchage. At that time, Sa's ethics were becoming common national ethics.
