The residents’ participation, on their own intiative, in the sustainable village development program is recognized as the most important value to make rural community socially active and economically alive. The community participation is expected to play the key role in the rural revitalization program for sustainable village development. The purpose of this study is to extract the factors trigerring the residents' participation in rural development program and to shape their relational characteristics at a village level. The study was carried out through surveying the statistically selected villages with various components of successful community development and interviewing with related experts and villagers for the questionnaire inquiry. The findings of this study are summarized as follows; Frist, the motivation of the residents’ participation in the process of rural village promotion is based on the following 4 macro factors ; ①guidance of village leader and residents’ initiative, ②income raising through commercialization of amenity resources, ③concrete planning or vision to the future of village, and ④supports and concerns by the government and NGOs. Second, according to the significance score of extracted factors, the most important point among mentioned above is "guidance of village leader and residents’ intiative" and the next is "support and concerns by the government and NGOs". Third, this study could finally draw out 23 micro factors, regrouped of 10 semi-macro factors activating residents’ participation for sustainable rural village. Fourth, in aspect of village development history, the process of motivation of residents' participation is divided into 2-stage; ①a trigerring stage in early time, ②a intensification stage in mature.
