This study developed and tested a new self-report instrument called the Korean Healthy Family Functioning Scale. The KHFFS was designed to assess individual family members' perceptions of healthy family functioning. The major dimensions chosen for the instrument were healthy relationship between husband and wife, healthy relationship between parents and their children, healthy relationship within family members, healthy relationship between family and community, and healthy relationship between family and religion.
After being screened for face validity by two groups of professionals, the KHFFS was then administered to a sample of students of High Family Academy (N=129) on two occasions. Internal consistency was measured using Cronbach's Alpha and stability was assessed using the test-retest method. The results indicated that the KHFFS showed exceptional internal consistency at the level of 0.971 and 0.975.
Implications for the KHFFS are that the instrument has demonstrated sufficient reliability to justify further research to determine wether validity can be established for the instrument.
