This article purposes to explore the literary consciousness and the worth of monthly magazine Catholic Youth in Modem Korean literary history published from 1933 to 1936, which provided new literary discourses and fresh works in the field of literary circles in the 1930s.
The Catholic Youth had primarily published for concentration of Catholic groups in the 1930s, but it took charge of important role in the field of literary circles that consisted of diverse groups after the decline of KAPF(Korea Artista Proleta Federatio). The Catholic Youth appeared to aim at rejecting Socialism and equipping ethical literary view at that time.
The literary consciousness of Catholic Youth, based on dualism emphasize God world, intended to reflect on Modem civilization and actively reject Socialism to be extreme revelation of human rationality.
It maintained firmly to awaken moral consciousness for recovering social stability against confused idealogy through figuration of rescue and consolation.
In the conclusion the Catholic Youth was truly valuable the space of a periodical for establishing the form of literary in Modem Korean literary history as well as evidenced that Catholic groups made vigorously efforts for promoting Korean literary sensibilities and spreading traditional culture in the 1930s.
