This article discusses the ordinary clothes official hats, upper and lower garments, overcoats, belts, and shoes and special clothes (i.e. armors) in the Hanseong Paekche period. It clarifies that these Paekche-era costumes succeeded to the unique ones of Han tribe established on the base of Gojosun, not being influenced by the Chinese or Northeast Asian costumes.
Occupying some part of Han territory in its establishment, Paekche followed the clothing culture of Han. The costumes of Han were identical with those of Goguryo, Puyo, Dongokje, and Dongye, which were located in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, the costumes of many countries in the Korean Peninsula and Manju area had slight regional differences, but basically, they were almost the same. These clothes styles prove that the countries succeeded the original costumes of Kochosun.
Expanding the state power, Paekche, in the 27th year of Koyi, reformed its official and status systems letting the king and the officials wear the fixed-colored clothes according to their ranks and positions. Since then, Paekche hadnt adopted the Chinese costumes, firmly sticking to its unique ones to the end.
