This study attempts to effects of muscle damage and lipid peroxidation belong to oxygen free radical derivative intermittent 80%VO₂max treadmill running exercise. Studies of role of free radicals species in pathological and physiological processes in skeletal muscle have only been reported relatively recently in comparison to other tissues. It is now recognised that there are a number of potential intracellular sites for the production of free radicals within muscle such as the mitochondrial electron transport systems, membrane-bound oxidases and infiltrating phagocytic cells. In addition, xanthine oxidases within endothelial tissue closely associated with muscle is a potential site for free radical production. Muscle is unique in its ability to undertake very rapid and coordinated changes in energy supply for repeated contractions. These changes, requiring major variations in the oxygen flux through the tissue and the electron flux through the mitochondral respiratory chain, might predispose to the formation of oxygen-centred free radical species.
The results were summarized as follows;
1. The intermittent treadmill running exercise was significantly increased lipid peroxide (MDA) than rest.
2. The vitamin-E was significantly increased than rest.
3. The phospholipid was significantly increased than rest.
4. The creatine kinase was significantly increased than rest.
