The study is to suggest reinvigoration strategy of sport industry associated with tourism. To satisfy this purpose, the relationship between sport and tourism was verified through reviewing previous and existing literature, and examining the current situation and perspectives of sport industry.
sport and tourism coexist within the extensive boundary such as leisure. They are one of the most favorite leisure activities for modern people in terms of dynamic and positive human behavior. Furthermore, sport industry and tourism industry have common things at the point of expanding the role as a regional and/or national core industry.
As a broad meaning, sport tourism would be travel activity outside of resident which has the purpose of observing or participating sports activity. Sport industry is regarded as businesses that create added value by production and distribution of goods or services related with sport.
Summing up this research, the path way of re-invigorating sport industry is to join with tourism. There are several suggestions to put it into practice. Firstly, Vitalize professional sports. Will it not only increase the participation of companies and consumers and expand sport service businesses but promote sport goods and facilities. Introducing managing concept, companies develop product value of sport resources while government primarily supports sport service businesses. For instance, government promotes sport goods as a world brand and educates/trains professionals for sport facilities and managers. Secondly, a regulation against existing sport facilities thar less use must be transformed into permission level that make business such as various festivals and events. Thirdly, diverse sport tourism products and programs must be developed by figuring out participants' characteristics and benchmarking successful foreign cases. Furthermore, inter-disciplinary research between tourism and sport must be carried out in the long perspective. Fourthly, government must provide sport tourism industry with new technology, information, human resource development by establishing the law what is called 'sport industry aid' as government's political support and 'sport industry foundation'. Fifthly, international sport tourism exhibition must be held periodically to communicate sport tourism industry information with other countries. Lastly, develop information contents and structure data base on sport tourism industry. The critical thing is to recognize the importance of sport tourism industry as an emerging gigantic area which has great potential and keep accomplishing those strategies by long and short stages.
