The purpose of this research is to verify the weak points of top-level golf players and to provide the basis for programs that would improve their game plays by identifying the relationships between the players’ categorical records that were performed in a year and their game ability(prize money). To achieve our goal 198 professional players that were ranked within the top 100 by prize money after participating in KPGA and KLPGA regular tour in 2006 were selected for the analysis. SPSS 12.0 was used in analyzing the datum. Descriptive statistic, correlation, multiple regression and ANOVA (analysis of variance) was studied in the research. The result of the analysis is as follow :
First, the records by categories showed statistical differences. Additionally the scoring average and par save percentage had the highest relations. Second, in the categorical records difference accordingly to gender, male players had a higher scoring average and par save percentage. Female player had a higher green in regulation percentage and putting average percentage. Third, in the relationship between categorical records and game play, the categories that had the highest influence over the male player's game play were, in order, scoring average, putting average percentage and par break percentage. Conclusively, in order to become top-level players rather than players just running in tours, for male players the player needs to improve their current putting and par break percentage, which will lower the scoring average and eventually improve game play.
