This paper reports the current status of Australian beekeeping industry to find out the breakthrough of the future of Korean beekeeping industry. Australian beekeeping industry is basically founded on the flourish natural resource represented by the eucalyptus as the honey plant. Total numbers of beekeepers and hives are only a quater of Korean ones. Honey production of Australia, however, is about the same size of Korean one. These facts imply the different efficiency of honey production between two countries and suggest some systematic change of the beekeeping process to reduce the cost of honey production. Also, registrational support such as AQIS, National Sentinel Hive Program or Australian Veterinary Emergency Plan (AUSVETPLAN) to cope with invasive honey bee disease and pest has to be in the priority to protect beekeeping industry in Korea. Korean beekeepers also have to not that nothing can be gained without pain. In AUSVETPLAN, there is a cost-sharing principle for invasive pest control so that the beekeepers can raise their voice. Thus, having a substantial amount of beekeepers and hives with diversified natural plant resource, quality-oriented efforts to increase efficiency would lead the better future of Koran beekeeping industry. For the more, the legislational support such as bee act or apiaries act is required to set the platform to support beekeeping industry.
