This paper intends to examine the women writers' social activities or literary writings in Korean War period. It is focused on the adaptation of ‘Anti-communism’. First, their activities as the war writers are related with the position of literary institution after the emancipation period in 1945. And it is interrelated with the characteristics of women’s literary institution. Second, this paper analyzes the women writers' literary works or discourses through the gender-based adaptation of anti-communism ideology.
Their novels and discourses in Korean war period show the mobilization of femininity by the nationalism. The strategy of ‘nationalization of woman’ is realized through the confessional or personal experienced speaking. The narratives of nationalism and anti-communism which are based on the gender difference show the existence of women writers in the national mobilization system. Specially, Choi Jeong Hee and Jang Deok Jo, the representative women war writers combine the femininity with the nationalism coherently, so they can guarantee the existence as the women writers in the male-centered literary institution.
