Choonsa, Unguyna who's life for the filmwold is very magnificent as a screenwrighter, a director, an actor. He directed 29 works and acting for 28works except for 10 works of Kinodrama.
This thesis will study his national spirit as an actor in his film and discuss his lovers to be symbolized for what in his film.
Na, Ungyu was born in 1901 at Hoiryeo Eup of Hamgyungbukdo. In his childhood he was interested in reding so he was knowened the best storyteller and performer in theatre around his village. Also he was influenced from his elder brother and his teacher to teaching national spirit and modernizing. While he wandered in north Korea because of missing love. He givened up his lover by the enforcement of japanese military police assistant who loved also his lover.
His vaious experence of youth life is naturally expressed in his film. As acting character Na, Unguy often used a eternal triangle for his film paradigm in the beginning period of his fimworks such as 〈Arirang〉, 〈Punguna〉 etc. and also his many works. There are three characters such as lovers, strong person, wanderer in his drama. Poor lovers symbolize for weeken people of Chosun and strong person for Japanese imperialism and wonderer for Chosun nationalist in the triangle system of cinematurgy. The wanderer must beat the strong person by violence and resque the poor lovers. In the image of Na, unguy whose character is wanderer is understood a revolutionist to the audience.
But Na, Unguy's national spirit of his film's subject which we will interpreter in the view of different point. In conclusion his national spirit comes from his revenge on missing lover by japanese violence. Therfore he msut be an acting player to perform a revolutionist character.
