Using data gathered through Internet search and review of relevant literature, this paper describes the current state of cyber-trafficking of Filipino girl children and evaluates the government’s policy responses to address this problem. Three forms of cyber-trafficking are discussed in detail: sex tourism, pornography, and prostitution. With regard to the policy responses to curb cyber-trafficking, the paper identifies problematic areas concerning both the formulation and the implementation of these policies. However, the paper emphasizes that cyber-trafficking should not be viewed primarily and exclusively as an Internet crime. It is a crime against children and all its other victims, a violation of their rights. It is not a problem anchored in cyberspace; it is a problem rooted in the socio economic conditions of the country. Thus, it needs to be solved from a more holistic perspective that involves legal and regulatory interventions, as well as other forms of interventions that will tackle the roots of the problem.
