This study started with the question, what are the research trends of Korean urban administration? To answer this question, this study examined 243 articles published in the Journal of the Korean Urban Management Association over the last two decades.
The findings are as follows. First, the most concerned areas among 13 categories were 'urban administration' and 'urban development' which consisted of 39.9 percent and 16.5 percent respectively of the articles. Second, the articles with financial aids accounted for about 20 percent of the articles, and 80 percent of them were funded from universities. Third, for the research methods, 68.7 percent of the articles were descriptive and 31.1 percent used statistical approach as the main research tool. However, more researchers used statistical method over the time period. Fourth, 83.1 percent of the articles were problem-solving oriented and the rest was about theoretical or normative. Fifth, more than 80 percent of the articles were done by those who are in academic circle, and practitioners accounted for only 6 percent.
