The subject report relates to the female Japanese students' dress for commencement.
The research is based on the analysis of literatures, documents performed in Japan and benchmarking of the actual commencement ceremony attires currently being worn by female students in Japan.
First of all, currently as for commencement in Japan, female Japanese students wear traditional kimono (one-piece type) and contemporary and simplified style, kimono & hakama (two-piece type)
However, wearing more contemporary and simplified two-piece type, kimono & hakama, is more popular than the traditional kimono.
Secondly, Shawls, various accessories, handbags and shoes (keda and boots) were also worn and used as trendy coordinating items, depending on personal preferences and fashion trends.
Thirdly, blending of traditional and contemporary was presented in the techniques in make ups and hair styles.
Fourthly, in order to comply with such situation and meet the demand, special rental shops for commencement ceremony attires are quite popular in Japan.
Lastly, as shown in Japan, in order to make Korea's traditional attire to become more known to the world, efforts need to be made in continuous development and improvement of new designs, practicality and functionality of hanbok to enhance the motivation of Korea's younger generation's desire to wear traditional attires.
