This paper concerns about the derivation of the double object constructions of Old English from LCA definition in the minimalist framework (Chomsky 2005, 2006). In Old English double object constructions, IO-DO surface order and DO-IO surface order took place at the approximately same rate(54%, 46% respectively) and no DO-to IO surface order, shown in that of Modern English, was existed. Thus these phenomena relevant to Old English double object constructions have long made it difficult to set up what the basic structure is and to undertake how we set to deal with their derivations in Old English structure.
In this paper, assuming Old English clause structure to be a single VP structure like [<SUB>VP</SUB> V ...], not [<SUB>VP</SUB> v [<SUB>VP</SUB> V ...]] of Modern English, and IO and DO in Old English to be occupied in the same V-position, I show that surface orders between IO and DO are the results from the interactions of LCA which makes IO or DO move out of VP in order to get the proper PF interpretation.
