This study aims at studying the aspect of the urban image and the experience nature in early modern korea that appears in writings of that time. The urban is representation of modern, and that concentrate modernity. On that point, the writings about urban of early modern korea are basic raw materials that show the landscape of that time. the recognition of urban is strictly connected with the recognition of nature. Because, urbanization and civilization have an influence on the relation between human and nature in the end. The writings in early modern korea don't distinguish between urban and nature into the civilized and the uncivilized, superiority and inferiority. On the contrary, the reverse is the case. Urban was portrayed with negatively and incredulously. it was represented as the place of vanity, sin, and gloom in that writings. On the other hand, nature was portrayed as place of purity, liberty, and disengagement, not as uncivilized and wild. That writings show that early modern korean rediscovered nature with the progress of urban. The image of nature that opposed or contrasted urban is the another production of modernization.
