The Provisional Measures of the People' s Republic of China on Customs Supervision of Export Processing Zones were approved by the State Council on April 27, 2000 and were promulgated by the General Administration of Customs on May 24, 2000.
The Measures introduce a new type of zone to China: the Export Processing Zone. China has recently established 15 such zones. In many ways the new Export Processing Zones are like Bonded Zones. As in Bonded Zones, materials and parts imported by enterprises for processing and re-export will be exempt from Customs duties and import value added tax. Perhaps the most significant difference is the difference in export rebate policies. For now, the Processing Trade in Export Processing Zones constitute a relatively small portion of the whole export-import amount. However it makes a great contribution to the Korea enterprises as a whole leading to the creation of a new market. This study will look into the development of China's processing trade and current situations of Export Processing Zone in China and the latest moves of The Provisional Measures in China's Export Processing Zone. And This paper focuses on the strategies and counter measures of our enterprises for Export Processing Zone.
