The objective of this paper is to investigate major trends in the global financial industry with the growing peace of the Internet. Large opportunities and threats exist for traditional financial institutions as well as new financial service participants in the marketplace. It is therefore of importance to understand both business opportunities and business risks when a company is planning to make its business decisions. It is found that there exists a strong need for defining new electronic financial services in the financial industry. Though the importance of understanding the concepts and technologies of e-Finance, many companies in the industry lack of practical guidelines how to implement their own e-Finance components within the company and how to make partnerships with other organizations. E-Finance architecture models suggested in this paper may be helpful to those who want to get into new e-Finance business. Furthermore, early e-Finance companies in the US, Japan and Korea markets are sampled and their major functions are investigated in detail. Some recommendations for the managers and professionals in this industry are made. This paper, however, provides a limited number of results relative to the suggested business models because many companies have adapted new e-Finance architectures. Therefore, more research toward detailed case analysis belonging to an e- Finance model would be very helpful.
