The acting process of a disaster on large area is difficult to be tested in a laboratory. This paper aims at employing of numerical simulation to study the behavior of a structure or an area under disaster for the disaster prevention and mitigation. Three projects related to computer simulation for the buildings and infrastructures under disaster are introduced. From the work presented in this paper, we can see that earthquake risk prediction and spreading simulation of earthquake-induced fire in urban area based on GIS is the basis for prediction of economic losses due to earthquakes, and for decision making in rebuilding of old area of a city; the integrated urban earthquake simulation system that uses GIS as the model source, CAD as the model generating tools, FEA for structural simulation and VR as the simulation platform shows that the system is suitable for the simulation of building damages due to earthquake disaster for an Urban Area.
