Danjae(丹齋) Shin Chae-ho(申采浩) was a journalist and fighter for national independence and historian at the modern age in Korea. He was the descendent of so-called 'Sandong Shin Family' from Goryeong Shin Clan. He born in Daejeon with close ties of his grandfather who enter the government service. Danjae studied Chinese writing learning from his grandfather and he developed the Dongdoseogiron by learning Chinese writing studies from the scholars of Imheonhoe(任憲晦) school. As he participated in the Manmingongdonghoe(만민공동회) Movement in 1898, he acquired the enlightenment thought. He was so emerged into the new learning even to assert the principle of non-utility of Chinese writing to have criticism against him in 1901 and was inclined in the ideology to assert the reform of Youngnam Confucianism. He then focused on historic study to establish the studies on korea history. He once went to Gwaneum temple of Beijing in China to live the life of a monk but it was purporsred to write the history in 'clean mind', not for his faith in Buddhism. His attitude toward learning was very stringent. He never accepted to have someone to add or omit any part of his writing at all. In addition, he was the historian who personally displayed the stringency of academics in a way of demanding to stop his writings to be publish on Chosun Ilbo that 『Chosun ancient History』 was too judgmental and incomplete.
