In this study, the focus of the research is Guanxi, China"s social and cultural factor, which is one of many factors that affect abilities to perform business in a constantly growing Chinese market. To this end, the effects of Guanxi on Korean IT SEMs are investigated regarding market environment characteristics, management characteristics, and corporate characteristics. In addition, the study discloses effects of Guanxi regarding business performances through research based on various performance indicators. Through this, it seeks to propose balanced performance enhancing methods and provide a theoretical framework through relevant and in-depth verifications.
The results of the empirical analysis reveal that firms entering Chinese market can expect positive effects on their overall business performances including finance, business processes, and marketability by reaching firms" full potentials of R&D marketing capability through managements" enthusiasm about overseas business operations, firms" technical competitive advantages, intelligence information; in this case, Guanxi establishment in Chinese· market can serve as an important factor in conducting business. this study will practically provide strategic directions to corporate executives who need to have detailed understanding of direct and indirect elements of Guanxi when performing business in China.
