Eleven flavonoids, including rutin, naringenin, hesperetin, kaempferol, hesperidin, neohesperidin, quercetin, naringin, nobiletin, 3,5,6,7,8,3', 4'-methoxylated flavone, and tangeretin in peels of twelve Jeju native citrus fruits harvested from August, 1999 to January, 2000 were analyzed with HPLC. Analytical conditions of mobile phase consisted of a mixture of water/acetonitrile with 0.5% acetic acid detection with a UV detector at 254 nm. During early maturation, hesperidin content in the peel of Binkyool (Citrus leiocarpa) was 25.99 mg/g, the highest among the tested citrus fruits. Rutin content in the peel of Sadoogam (C. pseudogulgul) was 4.20 mg/g, naringin content in the peel of Jikak (C. aurantium) 14.55 mg/g, neohesperidin content in the peel of Dangyooja (C. erythrosa) 10.06 mg/g, nobiletin content in the peel of Hongkyool (C. tachibana) 4.46 mg/g. Flavonoid content was highest in the peel of fruits sampled during early maturation, and decreased rapidly during ripening.
