이 글은 연기군 조치원읍 봉산리(현 세종시) 산신암의 김향란 무계입문과 굿을 소재로 다루었다. 첫째 장에서는 김향란의 기구한 삶과 무당이 된 과정, 무속 계보 등을 다루었다. 그리고 둘째 장에서는 김향란이 선대 스승으로부터 익힌 주당풀이를 기록하였다. 주당풀이는 여러 유형이 있으나 이 글에서 다룬 것은 산소 터를 잘못 건드려 주당을 맞은, 이를테면 산소주당에 의한 환자 굿을 조사 정리하였다. 본문에서는 주당풀이의 진행과정을 김향란의 연행을 중심으로 상세하게 옮겨 놓았다. 아울러 여러 무구나 표현, 행위 등에 대해 나름의 해석을 가하기도 하였고, 보충조사를 통하여 행위에 담긴 의미나 방식을 적어두었다.
This writing discusses Hyangran Kim’s entrance into shamanism and her invocatory rituals. The first chapter examined her unfortunate life. The chapter recorded her birth, her development as well as her marriage. Then, it focuses on how in the process of her medical treatment after her marriage, she became a shaman realizing that she was possessed with the spirit. Also, the chapter detailed her teachers and how they influenced her in her own activities as a shaman. The first chapter continued by revealing that Hyangram Kim learned invocatory rituals from a local shaman of Sejong City. It also proceeded to prove that her teachers included Bosal Kwak and Jongrak Kim who were both male shamans and were both local to the YongKi-gun district. Thus, both of Kim’s teachers were prominent shamans of the region. The second chapter detailed the Judang invocatory rituals that she learned from teachers of previous generations. There are various types of Judang rites, and the one that was studied in this paper was the Myoso(墓所) Judang. It is said that a patient who was receiving a rite mishandled a Myoso which led to the receiving of the Judang. Thus, this chapter explains the entire process of healing a patient possessed with the Myoso Judang. Upon drafting this paper, the author tried to describe the entire process of the ritual with accurate details. Also, the author regarded Hyangran Kim’s behavior and expression with much interest and therefore the writing will tend to focus on these aspects. Finally, the writing also delves into the ritual tools, or Mugu (巫具) with great interest.
