The recognition of science and technology is a field of recognition which examines how the general public’s understanding of the science and ability to manipulate technology have changed over the society. This recognition also studies the cultural, economic, and political impacts of scientific development. The purpose of this study is to confirm the recognition of the science and technology by a survey of the social consciousness of three major Asian nations-Korea, China and Japan. The basic assumption of this study is that unless the general public on Korea, China and Japan have common and good recognition of the science and technology, the development cooperation on north-east Asia is likely to have poorer effect and national development is not to be success too. The study results indicate that the general recognition of the science and technology on China higher than that of Korea and Japan but the recognition of the environmental problems on China lower than that of Korea and Japan. This study produces some interesting results on the direction of mutual understanding and communication on territory of north-east Asia for development cooperation especially in settle of environmental problems.
