The export in Korea has been very significant in national economy considering the lack of natural resources and small size of the domestic market. Realizing the importance of export with EU(European Union) Korea’s free trade agreement(FTA) with the EU went into effect last year(2011). This research aims at how FTA with EU will affect the local economy rather than the national economy as a whole in Korea. The research of Korea-EU FTA focused on the local economy has been rather scarce. The main reason for the rare study for the local economy may be due to lack of data that fit for local unit on the one hand and on the other the shortage of research fellows for the job. However, considering the importance of local economy and its role to the national economy the impact of Korea-EU FTA on the local unit can not be ignored. As far as the local economy is concerned the industrial and geographical characteristics from one area to another would much differ. Accordingly, this study aims at the measuring the impact of Korea-EU FTA on the Chungbuk region via qualitative as well as quantitative analysis.
