The effects of high-intensity exercise on the immune system were investigated in rats. Subjects of investigation were classified into three groups in Sprage-Dawley rats. One group of subjects was performed with only exercise which was divided control group(CON), EGCG administration group(EGCG), exercise group(EX), and the other group was performed with both EGCG administration and exercise(EGCG+EX). Treadmill was used for training by rats which were given EGCG administration (50mg/g/day) 30 minutes before exercising, and they were trained a high-intensity exercise (28m/min, 60min/day, 5 times a week). One-way ANOVA were used and p value under .05 was considered as statistical significance. Sample were analysed using hematoxylin-eosin stain and RT-PCR for measurement of mRNA expression of interleukin-1(IL-1b), interleukin-6(IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-a). From above process, we identified that inflammatory cytokines TNF-a gene were steadily increased in exercise group(EX), and they were significantly decreased in an exercise group which was EGCG administration and exercise(EGCG+EX). There were no change in IL-1b and IL-6. Also, ingestion with antioxidant products is ideally considered and recommended in order to repress the inflammation in spleen.
