This study focuses on the shortened phenomenon and forms of Korean language. To show this, we explain the concepts, principles, and types of shortened forms of Korean language and we suggest teaching-learning scheme about them.
A shortened form is the change of language and is defined to a expression which is made shorten from words, phrase, and sentence. These expressions have economic efficiency and popularity based on speakers’ psychology as principles. We analyze types of shortened forms of Korean language according to words and syntax and plans on the teaching & learning as materials of Korean language education.
The summary of this research is as follows.
(1) Shortened forms of Korean language has a strong relationship according to the same generation’s or speakers’ communication and people use them unconsciously sometimes or with intention often.
(2) These forms are expressions made from some parts that are remained after leaving out consonants, vowels, syllables, or even words and phrases.
(3) We emphasize an optional and effective use shortened forms in language life and need point of a view for purification of language in education.
