In this paper, a PSR(Primary-Side Regulation)IC with standby mode control circuit for 30W AC-DC flyback converter is presented. Compared with the conventional PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) IC with fixed operating frequency, operating frequency of newly developed PSR IC is varied as a function of output load variation. Hence it drives power MOSFET in accordance with the output load variations of converter. As a result, load regulation characteristic is improved. And also, standby power management function which use burst-mode technique with PFM(Pulse Frequency Modulation) is equipped with newly developed PSR ICs to minimize the standby power consumption at the light or no load condition. Operating frequency of the newly developed PSR IC is varied from 30.78㎑ to 106.75㎑ in accordance with the output load variation. And also, intermittent multiple output signals are generated with 3.8ms interval when converter operates in standby mode. Circuit simulation results about the standby mode control function of the newly developed PSR IC for converter is described. X-Fab 1.0㎛ 650V DIMOS process is used to design and verify the newly developed PSR IC.
