This paper presents a consideration of design factors for solenoid coil driver IC of Automotive Braking System. It is important to control solenoid coil and valve linearly in automotive braking system. For this, solenoid coil driver IC has to control the current flowing through the solenoid coil accurately. The current measurement concept is crucial for controlling current accurately. There are two current measurement concepts. First concept measures the current in FET turn on state. Second concept measure the current in FET turn on and off state. The first concept is cheaper and lower accuracy than the other concept. The first concept has RMS value of 29.2mA deviation under various operating conditions. The second concept has RMS value of 3mA deviation under various operating conditions.
