The study on Avalokitesvara has been focused on the belief in which mankinds can escape from sufferings by his compassion.
T`ien-t`ai develops the Avalokitesvara`s thought which is suitable to the spirit of Lotus sutra. In his works related to Avalokitesvara, such as Bubhwamunku, Kwaneumuiso, Kwaneumhyunui, and Cheongkwaneumso, he elucidates that all mankinds comprehend Avalokitesvara by calling the name with one mind of reason and fact, that Avalokitesvara responds to all mankinds with unconditional compassion and pity by means of P?rvapranidh?na`s divine power in order for all mankinds to be able to escape from sufferings by Tripitaka, Sacred, Distinctive, and Complete, if sympathy is accomplished from a complete and immediate, especially for attaining enlightenment, concentration or if mental state is sympathies, and that 19 Buddhist sermons are expounded by Avalokitesvara` appearance with various figures to the realm of Buddhism, among which four teachings are given and five periods are grown into maturity to lead to one Buddha vehicle.
