This study aims at identifying what the knowledge of writing is in a writing classroom and criticizing the legitimacy of writing. By the national curriculum of South Korea, it prescribes to convey the knowledge of writing as two parts in a classroom; firstly, to teach the fact of writing and secondly, to understand the method of writing. This study seeks the former one in the aspect of changing of writing theory, and the latter one in the aspect of the writing process.
The perspective of this study regards the change of writing theory as a phenomenon of writing rather than the simplified method of writhing. Beyond this perspective, the writing theory should be developed by selfexamination to fit the general writing environments. On the other hand, the writing process is originated from the concept that the tool by explaining the phenomenon of writing. The strategy presented on the writing process should be more constructive and specific unless it would be nothing more than tips.
If it set the goal of the writing education as the improvement of writing ability, the knowledge of writing should be practical than before. At this point, the Greek rhetoric is worthy to refer since it states strong and systematic procedures depending on various specific situations.
