The need for writing education is stressed in Korea. ‘Writing’ is fixed as a formal lecture in many universities. The aims of this article are diagnosis and treatment of wrong sentences in writings written by Korean university students. Basic materials are writings of students who are in three universities in and around Daegu. They were written as large as 250 letters in a paragraph. The items for statistic processing were paragraphs, sentences and words from basic data that are consist of seven sets.
The primary purpose of this study is to know the real state of mistakes in sentences that 13th grade students use. I investigated percentages and patterns of wrong sentences from database that are consist of units of paragraphs written by students in three universities. I classified examples of mistakes according to patterns and made these as basic materials for making the wiring directing program. And, I established basic data for percentage of patterns and degree of mistakes by proportion of right answers in examinations for check up the ability of diagnosis and correction of wrong sentences.
The degree of mistakes in sentences were not changed in groups who were not taken corrections and decreased in groups who were taken corrections. The conclusion of that personal correction is most effective directing method was derived from this. And, the percentage of wrong sentences according to patterns were also correlated in comparison of proportion of right answers in two groups. The proportion of right answers can used as a guideline for important directing point because the mistakes that were not picked out in "reading" are repeated in ‘writing’.
